Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Nigeria, has made an impressive debut in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking, securing the second position among Nigerian federal, state, and private universities.
Highlighting its outstanding contributions to sustainability and global health, the institution clinched top positions in several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university notably achieved first place in Nigeria and Africa for SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), bolstered by its African Centre of Excellence for Water and Environmental Science Research. Additionally, Redeemer’s University topped Nigeria’s ranking in SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), supported by its renowned Institute of Genomics and Global Health (IGH), previously known as the African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID).
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, emphasized the significance of these achievements, noting the institution’s commitment to sustainability and global research collaborations. He called for increased partnerships with organizations and individuals committed to sustainable development.
This ranking further underscores Redeemer’s University’s resilience and dedication to driving innovation and research excellence across Africa and globally.
